The next few weeks can be summarised into these four categories. Having Rina and Julia here was great. We went to Jerusalem every second or so day to hang out - sometimes for chag, sometimes for activities.
We stayed in Julia's and Rina's Lev Yerushalayim apartment with Reuben and Shua on last day Pesach (for us) - which meant that David and I were in Rina's room, Rina and Julia were in Julia's room and Rubes and Shua were in the living room - very cosy for all concerned! Shua brought some of his yeshiva friends for last day Pesach and we all had a lovely time.
When Pesach finally passed - and, for the record, Tel Aviv, is not a great place to be on Pesach - and we could return to some sort of gastronomic normality, life suddenly seemed much easier.
In the meantime, Mark Pearlman was ringing every day because he wanted to organise for David to give a talk on Yom Haatzmaut, which fell during the week that David was to be in NYC. The phone calls were fast and frequent, but eventually developed into an amazing event, which I will discuss later. Mark was to put a huge amount of work into the event...
In between all this, we had the increasing stress of April ticking away and still we did not have an apartment. In fact, on the last day of Julia and Rina's trip, we had a 'moment' in which the realities of renting apartments in Tel Aviv were fully revealed to us and we shared this special with them...which unfortunately haunted them (Julia and Rina) throughout their trip home and for some weeks after!
But there were so good times too - including a lovely trip to Hebrew University as well as afternoon tea at the grand and infamous King David Hotel for the Solomon girls, David and Sharron.
