Our first Chanukah in Israel and we, unsurprisingly, ate far too many donuts! The chag (holiday) heralded two weeks break from ulpan (yay!) even though we went back eruv chag for a Chanukah party (pictured).
This, of course, now feels like such a long time ago already. Fortunately or unfortunately one of the main events of this holiday was the crashing of my computer - enforced rest and a severing of my electronic umbilical cord as a side effect. Thankfully, reports of my computer's death were grossly exaggerated. However, this event , combined with procrasination and denial, has in part been responsible for my delay in writing.

But back to the narrative: between December 10 & 11 we went up to the most northern (coastal) part of Israel, right next to no-man's-land, Rosh Hanikra, for Limmud Galil. This was David's Hebrew debut of The Whole of Jewish History in One Hour and The Whole of Tanach (Bible) in One Hour (although David actually gave his first ever Hebrew lecture the week before).

David was one of the two key speakers, and was scheduled to give both talks twice - not an easy feat, especially to give a talk on Tanach to an Israeli audience, which will almost certainly have a serious knowledge of Tanach. But David faced his demons and the response was far greater than we could have imagined, and ironically, audiences were even more enthusiastic about the Tanach talk than 'history'.

In the meantime, I had a great time, it was super practice for my Hebrew (being a Hebrew conference) and the place itself was gorgeous. Sharron also joined us for the first day, which was fab.
