LAST YEAR AND THIS

We slept and bumbled (pun intended) our way through the last few days of 5768, trying recover from jetlag and, for me, to successfully avoid the mountain of work I have to do now. One of the few things I did manage to achieve was to send out a Rosh Hashanah greeting to family and friends (see absurd picture, right) and to send a more serious note to our mailing lists in NYC, UK and Israel. In doing so, I have also tried, for the first time, to advise people of the possibility of sponsoring our future publications in recognition that people are only likely to think (or offer) to do this if they know it is an option. Should we have any success with this, it may mean that 5769 is a little less challenging on a financial front than 5768 proved to be :) Here's hoping, anyway.

A last minute surprise invitation meant that we spent a wonderful Rosh Hashanah with Josh and Marlo Newman, their boys, Meir, Tzion and Tuv, and Josh's brother Moses in Jerusalem. Josh and Marlo live in a lovely house in Old Katamon but Josh and Moses work out of a neighbouring flat (with an amazing courtyard) which is also Moses' home - and Moses was kind enough to let us share his space for the two days.

On the morning of first day Rosh Hashanah we went to the Kotel (Western Wall) to hear shofar, which was both beautiful and mad.

That afternoon, walking to Josh and Marlo's for lunch we also bumped into Andrew Hayim who came to Tel Aviv and hung out with us the day after Rosh Hashanah...was lovely to see him.
