Nici Schwartz was our first guest in the new flat. She was in Israel for a couple of months, learning in Neve Yerushalayim, before going off for summer camp...as part of her year off university.
My birthday was quiet. It fell on Shabbat and I tried to track down some friends on Motze Shabbat but it was all a little late. David and I popped over the road for a beer.
Mum celebrated her 60th birthday back in Perth and we were sad not to be there. We rang all around the various associated occasions - her party, before and after, her actual birthday etc. She seemed to be having a wonderful time, but it was sad for us not to be there.
And once that was all over, mum herself started to experience anti-climax in a big way. It was then that David hit on the brain wave and dared mum to come and visit. He said that it would be the perfect time for her to visit as the weather was still beautiful - before the onset of the summer madness - and she should come to see how we live. She thought for a few days and then came back, a little to our surprise, and said she was coming!
