David has also been busy working on a number of book projects. He has journeyed further inside the world of
Meah Shearim and
kabbalistic yeshivot as a result of his work to produce the first new edition of Tal Orot, a nineteenth century European kabbalistic text. In doing so, he has received extraordinary access to this very closed community.
He is also working on a new kabbalistic reference book which is growing beyond expectation. David is writing this in Hebrew and has told me that he is willing to consider translating this into English...maybe...
David is also writing another book called "The 40 Major Texts of Jewish Learning". and something else which does not have a name yet...
Busy, busy...

By the way, thought you might be interested to see this picture. For those of you who can't read it (like me) it is a poster that we found near one of the kabbalistic yeshivot in Jerusalem. It is a letter of support for
Shimon Peres to be elected president in advance of the Israeli
knesset members vote for president earlier this month. The poster is directed at the haredi (ultra orthodox) community. There is a long and somewhat unpleasant history that has lead to this point and let us hope that it heals some of the wounds. We took the picture because (secular) people did not believe that it could possibly exist.
